Job summary

Our client, a well‑established engineering business, is seeking a Facilities Manager to own two sites near Oldham. You will oversee buildings, plant, utilities and contractors to keep operations safe, compliant and efficient in a busy production setting.

This hands‑on, high‑visibility role reports to the Production Director and requires strong contractor management, budgeting and stakeholder communication. Regular days Monday to Friday with on‑site duties and occasional travel within 40 miles

Qualifications

• Proven facilities management experience, ideally within engineering or manufacturing.
• Solid knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices and UK HSE legislation.
• Experience managing contractors, suppliers and service providers.
• A relevant FM qualification (e.g. IWFM, NEBOSH or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day running of offices, workshops and storage across two sites.
• Manage planned preventative and reactive maintenance for buildings, plant and equipment.
• Keep utilities reliable, compliant and cost-efficient.
• Lead refurbishments, space planning and site improvement projects.
• Carry out site inspections, audits and risk assessments.
• Manage permits, certifications and statutory inspections.
• Act as go-to for facilities safety matters and emergency response.
• Source and manage contractors and SLAs to ensure safe, timely work.
• Monitor facilities budgets and identify savings opportunities.
• Maintain accurate records of assets, maintenance and compliance.
