We are Rail People. Since our founding in 1994 we have been helping to modernise and improve UK rail to meet the needs of today’s passengers. We have invested more than £1.5 billion in rolling stock and innovation projects in the last ten years to become the UK’s largest rolling stock leasing company.

Our purpose is to serve the rail industry by bringing private investment into rail assets innovatively and sustainably throughout their lifecycle. Our culture of innovation, collaboration and commitment to excellence drives us to be a company that is valued by our customers and makes us the people that the rail industry most wants to work with.

We invest in small and medium businesses who drive our innovation in new technologies. From battery and hybrid powered traction systems to 3D printed parts and high-definition cameras on our assets. Our long-term outlook means we can support skilled jobs across the sector, from coast to coast, across the whole country.

We will continue to reimagine our investments, to work with the talented people in our industry and to engineer a brighter, greener, more cost-effective future for the railway in the United Kingdom. Together, we are creating an environment where people can enjoy the journey as much

as the destination.

About the role:

As our Office Manager, you'll be the champion of our work environment, ensuring that every employee can deliver their best work whether they're in the office, at home, or on the go. You'll lead and develop the team that keeps our offices running smoothly whilst creating a workspace that's perfect for everyone, employee and visitor alike. You will also play a crucial role within occupational health and safety and sustainability; crafting and implementing policies that foster a safety conscious and sustainable culture throughout the business.

Due to the nature of the role the successful candidate is required to be present in the office on a full-time basis but occasional flexibility to work from home can be accommodated.

What will you be doing?

  • Working closely with the building agents and landlords of our offices to oversee maintenance and upkeep whilst also managing the day-to-day performance of any third-party contractors and utility providers.
  • Preparing annual budgets for all office costs and regularly reviewing the contracts we have in place to ensure value for money.
  • Recording all occupational H&S related hazards/near misses across the organisation and investigating to recommend any corrective actions.
  • Conducting regular risk assessments using the RM3 model to identify and log hazards before they become issues.
  • Developing and executing an office sustainability plan that aligns with the organisation’s goals and NetZero roadmap, whilst also tracking any metrics that arise from this.
  • Hosting monthly health and safety meetings.
  • Managing and motivating the Facilities Support team to ensure that high levels of service are always provided to the business.

What do we need from you?

  • A recognised IOSH (or equivalent) qualification.
  • Strong experience from a related facilities/office management role as well as an up to date knowledge of Health and Safety regulations, standards and legislation.
  • Previous experience writing workplace risk assessment as well as Health, Safety and Sustainability policies and procedures.
  • Previous experience of line managing a small team.

  • People People
  • Future Forward
  • Always Accountable
  • Better Together
