Marchant Recruitment is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep, repair and servicing of buildings and facilities in Reading, Berkshire. The role suits technically minded individuals with practical problem-solving skills and experience in building maintenance or facilities engineering.

As part of the maintenance team, you will inspect, fault-find and perform repairs, keeping equipment safe, operational and well-documented.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in maintenance, facilities support or a technician role.
• Practical knowledge of building repairs and general maintenance.
• Familiarity with hand tools and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to diagnose straightforward faults and identify when specialist support is required.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures.

Responsabilités

• Carry out routine inspections of buildings, fixtures and equipment.
• Complete general maintenance and minor repair tasks.
• Investigate reported faults and identify appropriate solutions.
• Assist with planned preventative maintenance.
• Monitor the condition of building fixtures and fittings.
• Report specialist repair requirements to the relevant team.
• Maintain records of inspections, repairs and completed tasks.
• Use tools and maintenance equipment safely.
• Follow health and safety policies and risk assessments.
• Assist with contractor visits and maintenance projects.
• Check that work areas are left safe and tidy.
• Monitor maintenance materials and report shortages.
• Support the upkeep of doors, locks, furniture and fittings.
• Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner.
• Escalate hazards or equipment defects promptly.
