Job summary

Ritz Recruitment Ltd is seeking a proactive Maintenance Technician/Handyman to join a busy student accommodation in Reading RG1. This hands-on role covers general repairs, including plumbing, decorating, and joinery, with a focus on delivering an outstanding living experience for residents.

You will respond promptly to maintenance requests, work independently, and help with reactive and planned maintenance while keeping records up to date and ensuring health and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Proven maintenance/handyman/trade experience.
• Strong practical skills across general maintenance disciplines.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Reliable and self-motivated with ownership of work.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to maintenance requests.
• Carry out general repairs (plumbing, decorating, joinery).
• Support reactive and preventative maintenance activities.
• Conduct inspections of rooms and communal areas.
• Identify health & safety risks.
• Maintain maintenance logs and compliance.
• Deliver professional service to residents.
• Communicate clearly across teams and with residents.
