Job summary

Market 36 Recruitment are currently seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician for a permanent role based in Braintree. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance across the site, including plumbing work on water heaters, washrooms and drainage, while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in facilities/building maintenance, strong fault-finding skills, and the ability to read complex drawings.

Qualifications

• Experience in facilities/building maintenance.
• Knowledge of health and safety in the workplace.
• Experience raising and working under permits to work.
• Ability to read complex system drawings and schematics.
• Experience fault finding and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of Legionella and water hazards.
• Able to work independently and in a small team.
• Electrical skills would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the Braintree site.
• Carry out plumbing on water heaters, washroom sanitary equipment, catering services and drainage.
• Respond to facilities faults and maintenance requests, prioritising and resolving promptly.
• Work from complex system drawings and schematics where required.
• Liaise with and escort third‑party contractors when required.
• Follow safe working practices and develop task-specific risk assessments.
• Maintain good housekeeping across all areas.
• Work independently where safe to do so and as part of the wider team on larger tasks.
• Carry out additional duties as requested by the Facilities Manager or Maintenance Supervisor.
