Job summary

Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 3 Facilities Catering Supervisor to manage day-to-day catering services at a designated site within Estates and Facilities. You will supervise catering staff, oversee stock, and ensure high standards of food hygiene and presentation for patients, staff and visitors.

The role includes rota management, budget contribution, recruitment support, and acting as deputy for the Catering Services Lead as required across sites.

Responsibilities

• Visit catering facilities, wards and patients to monitor service and address issues.
• Responsible for deliveries, stock control and cleanliness of stock areas; raise shortfalls to Lead.
• Daily supervision of Catering Facilities Operatives; conduct Return to Work interviews and sickness reviews.
• Prepare, cook and present food for patients, staff and visitors per standard recipes.
• Ensure complaints are handled sensitively; take corrective actions and share lessons learned.
• Assist in serving customers in the restaurant and functions when required.
• Plan and cost menus under the Catering Services Lead.
• Order food and non-food items under the Catering Services Lead per Financial Instructions.
• Ensure food and hygiene standards are met.
• Organise and prioritise daily work plan.
• Maintain a clean, tidy work and preparation area at all times.
• Deputise for the Catering Services Lead across sites to ensure continuity.
• Sign off bank and agency timesheets.
• Review rotas and allocate shifts to keep department running smoothly.
• Support projects relating to catering; participate in recruitment for the service.
