Job summary

Midsomer Norton Schools' Partnership is seeking a reliable facilities assistant to support the delivery of facilities management services at the school site in Radstock. You will work in a team to ensure the site is operational, secure, and well-maintained with early and late shifts (6:30am–2:30pm and 11:30am–7:30pm), totaling 37 hours per week.

The role includes general building maintenance, health and safety compliance, and providing a professional service to staff and students.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the site is operational and secure when required
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness on site
  • Assist with general repair and maintenance of building fabric, mechanical and electrical services
  • Provide responsive and professional customer service to staff and students
  • Report on subcontractors' work quality to the Site Manager
  • Follow health and safety procedures for the facilities management team and others
  • Assist Maintenance Technicians with installations, alterations and refurbishments
  • Work the shift pattern: 6:30–14:30 and 11:30–19:30 (Fri finish 14:00, 19:30); school holidays: day shift across facilities staff

Job description

We are looking for a reliable, adaptable and hard working individual to proactively assist with the delivery of the Facilities Management Services within the school in order to maintain a high standard of functionality and premises upkeep. You would be working as part of a team to:

  • Ensure the site is operational
  • Secure all buildings and the site itself as required
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness on the site
  • Keep storage facilities and plant rooms well organised
  • Provide general portage duties to meet deadlines
  • Comply with and promote good health and safety procedures for the facilities management team, teaching and leisure staff, contractors and their working practices
  • Report on the quality of subcontractor's work/service provision to the Site Manager
  • Embrace the campus's educational requirements ensuring the teaching staff and students are at the forefront of our service provision
  • Provide a responsive and professional customer service
  • Keep customers informed of progress of work using clear, informative detail
  • General making good of building fixture and fittings
  • Positively and professionally represent Midsomer Norton Schools' Partnership at all times
  • Assist the Maintenance Technicians with the undertaking of:
  • General repair and maintenance work in connection with building fabric, mechanical and electrical services
  • Installation/alteration/refurbishment works
    Hours of Work: Shift pattern (alternate weeks: 6.30am-2:30pm and 11:30am-7.30pm, Fridays finish 2pm and 7pm) During the school holidays the hours move to a day shift pattern for all facilities staff as the school is open from 7am-4.30pm.
  • Contract: Permanent, all year round - 37 hrs Monday - Friday Rate: Grade 4 SCP 7-10: £27,274 - £28,608 per annum
