Job summary

Purosearch is seeking an experienced Façade Designer to join the Building Envelope team of a well-established specialist contractor operating across the UK, based in Manchester.

You will produce detailed 2D and 3D façade drawings, develop construction drawings, and design rainscreen cladding, SFS and external wall systems, coordinating with engineers, suppliers and subcontractors to deliver compliant solutions.

Qualifications

• Proven experience producing technical façade or cladding designs.
• Strong AutoCAD skills; Revit advantageous.
• Understanding of CWCT guidance and UK Building Regulations.

Façade Designer

Location: Manchester / Greater Manchester

Salary: £40,000 – £55,000 DOE

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Façade Designer to join the Building Envelope team of a well-established specialist contractor operating across the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded designer to join a growing business delivering new-build and façade remediation projects, working across a diverse range of building envelope systems and materials.

The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, engineers, surveyors, suppliers and other technical stakeholders to develop detailed, buildable and compliant façade solutions from concept through to construction.

The Role

As a Façade Designer, you will be responsible for producing detailed technical designs and drawings for a range of façade and building envelope systems.

• Producing detailed 2D and 3D façade drawings using CAD software.
• Developing technical and construction drawings from concept through to installation.
• Designing and detailing rainscreen cladding, SFS and external wall systems.
• Producing elevations, sections, details, setting-out drawings and fabrication information.
• Working closely with engineers and project teams to develop technically viable solutions.
• Reviewing architectural and structural information and identifying potential design issues.
• Liaising with manufacturers, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure designs are coordinated.
• Ensuring designs comply with relevant Building Regulations, CWCT guidance and project-specific requirements.
• Supporting façade remediation and refurbishment projects where required.
• Assisting with technical submissions, specifications and design documentation.
• Conducting design reviews and ensuring accurate information is issued for construction.
• Visiting sites when required to support surveys, design development and technical queries.

About You

We are looking for a Façade Designer with previous experience within the façade, cladding, roofing or wider building envelope sector.

• Proven experience producing technical façade or cladding designs.
• Strong AutoCAD skills; experience with Revit would be advantageous.
• Good understanding of façade construction and detailing.
• Experience with systems such as rainscreen cladding, SFS, composite panels, render, aluminium or brick façade systems.
• An understanding of CWCT guidance and UK Building Regulations.
• Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and an understanding of buildability.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and technical design.
• Experience working on façade remediation, fire remediation or high-rise residential projects would be particularly beneficial.
