Job summary

Purosearch is recruiting a Façade Designer in Manchester to produce detailed designs for façade and building envelope systems. You will work with Design Managers, Architects, and engineers to ensure compliant, buildable solutions for remediation and new-build projects.

Ideal candidates have experience in façade remediation, curtain walling, and rainscreen systems, with strong AutoCAD skills and knowledge of Building Regulations. Revit experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Façade Designer or similar role.
• Experience with façade remediation, recladding, curtain walling or building envelope projects.
• Strong knowledge of façade systems and construction detailing.
• Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit is advantageous.
• Knowledge of Building Regulations and façade fire safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed design, fabrication, and installation drawings.
• Develop façade solutions for remediation and new-build projects.
• Design and coordinate systems including rainscreen cladding, curtain walling, glazing, and aluminium façade systems.
• Coordinate with architects, consultants, structural engineers, and suppliers.
• Attend design meetings and site visits as required.
• Review project specifications and technical requirements.
• Ensure designs comply with Building Regulations and fire safety requirements.
• Support value engineering and buildability reviews.
• Assist with technical submissions, RFIs, and design documentation.

Job Title: Façade Designer

Location: Manchester

Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 (DOE)

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

About the Company

We are working with a leading specialist contractor operating across the façade remediation, cladding replacement, fire safety, and building envelope sectors. With a strong pipeline of secured projects across the UK, they deliver both remediation and new-build façade packages on residential, commercial, education, and mixed-use developments.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Façade Designer to join their Manchester team.

The Role

As a Façade Designer, you will be responsible for producing detailed design solutions for a variety of façade and building envelope systems. You will work closely with Design Managers, Contracts Managers, Architects, Structural Engineers, and Project Teams to ensure designs are compliant, buildable, and delivered in line with project requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in façade design, cladding remediation, curtain walling, rainscreen systems, and external envelope packages.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed design, fabrication, and installation drawings.
• Develop façade solutions for remediation and new-build projects.
• Design and coordinate systems including:
• Rainscreen cladding
• Curtain walling
• Glazing systems
• Aluminium façade systems
• SFS framing systems
• External wall insulation and fire remediation solutions
• Prepare technical drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Coordinate with architects, consultants, structural engineers, and specialist suppliers.
• Attend design meetings and site visits as required.
• Review project specifications, architectural drawings, and technical requirements.
• Ensure designs comply with current Building Regulations, fire safety requirements, and industry standards.
• Support value engineering exercises and buildability reviews.
• Assist with technical submissions, RFIs, and design documentation.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Façade Designer, Design Technician, Façade Draughtsperson, Building Envelope Designer, or similar.
• Experience within façade remediation, recladding, curtain walling, cladding, or building envelope projects.
• Strong knowledge of façade systems and construction detailing.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Revit experience would be advantageous.
• Good understanding of current Building Regulations and façade fire safety requirements.
• Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
