Job summary

Purosearch is recruiting a Façade Engineer in Manchester to join a leading global property and consultancy group. You will work across a diverse portfolio, delivering specialist façade expertise from early design through construction and into remediation when needed.

The role involves collaboration with clients, architects, contractors and other engineering disciplines, reviewing designs, reports and submissions, and applying CWCT, Eurocodes and BS standards. A hybrid work pattern is offered.

Qualifications

• Degree required in façade, civil/structural or architectural engineering.
• Experience in façade consultancy, engineering consultancy, contractor or specialist façade environment.
• Strong knowledge of façade systems and construction.
• Knowledge of British Standards, Eurocodes and CWCT guidance.
• Experience across commercial, residential or mixed-use developments.

Responsibilities

• Deliver façade engineering assessments, investigations and technical reports across a range of building types.
• Provide technical input throughout the RIBA design stages, from concept through to construction.
• Assess existing façade systems, identifying defects, failures and potential remedial solutions.
• Review façade designs, specifications, calculations, drawings and technical submissions.
• Undertake site inspections, surveys and condition assessments.
• Provide technical advice relating to curtain walling, cladding, rainscreen systems, glazing and building envelope systems.
• Support façade remediation and refurbishment projects, including fire safety-related works where required.
• Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, manufacturers and other consultants.
• Assist with project delivery, technical coordination and quality assurance.
• Prepare clear and detailed technical reports and recommendations.

The Opportunity

We are working with a leading global property and consultancy business who are looking to appoint an experienced Façade Engineer to join their growing technical team in Manchester.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong façade professional to work across a diverse portfolio of high-profile commercial, residential and mixed-use developments, providing specialist façade engineering expertise across both new-build and existing buildings.

You will be involved in projects from early design through to construction, inspection and technical assessment, working closely with clients, architects, contractors and other engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

About You

• A degree in Façade Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous experience working within a façade consultancy, engineering consultancy, contractor or specialist façade environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of façade systems, materials and construction.
• Experience with façade inspections, assessments, design or technical engineering.
• Good understanding of relevant British Standards, Eurocodes and CWCT guidance.
• Experience working across commercial, residential or mixed-use developments.
• Strong report writing and technical communication skills.
• The ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively with clients and project teams.
• Excellent attention to detail and a practical approach to solving technical problems.

Desirable Experience

• Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:
  • FRAEW / PAS 9980
  • EWS1 assessments
  • Façade remediation and recladding
  • Building Safety Act / Higher-Risk Buildings
  • Curtain walling and glazing
  • Rainscreen cladding
  • Structural façade analysis
  • Thermal or condensation assessments
  • Façade testing and investigations
  • AutoCAD, Revit or other relevant technical software
