Job summary

RNN Group in Rotherham is seeking an Engineering Technician (Fabrication and Welding) to support practical workshops and academic staff. You will prepare workshops, assist with equipment, and contribute to safe, efficient facilities that enhance student learning.

The role requires industry experience in fabrication and welding, plus Level 2+ in Fabrication and Welding and Level 2 English/Maths. A proactive team player mindset will help drive workshop improvements.

Qualifications

• Industry experience in fabrication and welding with practical knowledge for workshops.
• Hold a Level 2+ qualification in Fabrication and Welding.
• Level 2 English and Maths (or willing to undertake).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set out equipment and materials for practical work and assessments.
• Provide safety cover during practical classes, ensuring workshops and equipment are safe for use.
• Assist in constructing apparatus and preparing materials as directed by academic staff.
• Distribute tools and consumables to students; maintain stock records.
• Carry out routine maintenance on machinery and keep workshops clean, safe, and organized.
• Monitor levels of tools and equipment; order replacements when needed.
• Ensure workshop security and report losses or damages to the Curriculum Performance Lead.
• Attend team meetings and support other areas of the college when required.
