Job summary

Evolve Talent Search Ltd in Basildon is seeking an experienced Facilities Fabric Engineer to join a professional Building Services team. You will perform planned and reactive fabric maintenance across a commercial environment, ensuring high standards and timely issue resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
  • Undertake general fabric and building maintenance works.
  • Carry out repairs to doors, locks, walls, ceilings, flooring and other fabric.
  • Complete basic plumbing and carpentry repairs where required.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and attend breakdowns promptly.
  • Identify defects and report any issues requiring specialist attention.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete job sheets.
  • Ensure all works are completed in accordance with health & safety procedures.

Facilities Fabric Engineer

Location: Basildon

Salary: £40,000

Working Hours: Monday–Friday, split shift

Shift Pattern: Week 1: 6:00am–3:00pm | Week 2: 1:00pm–10:00pm

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Facilities Fabric Engineer to join a professional Building Services team based in Basildon.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive fabric maintenance across a commercial building environment, ensuring facilities are maintained to a high standard and issues are resolved efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across the building.
  • Undertake general fabric and building maintenance works.
  • Carry out repairs to doors, locks, ironmongery, walls, ceilings, flooring and other building fabric.
  • Complete basic plumbing and carpentry repairs where required.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and attend breakdowns in a timely manner.
  • Identify defects and report any issues requiring specialist attention.
  • Assist with general building services and facilities maintenance.
  • Work alongside electrical and mechanical engineers to support the wider engineering team.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete job sheets.
  • Ensure all works are completed in accordance with relevant health & safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and professional working environment.
  • Liaise with the Facilities Management team and building occupants where required.
About You

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within a commercial facilities management or building services environment and have a strong understanding of general building fabric maintenance.

You should be practical, reliable and confident working independently, while also being able to work effectively as part of a wider engineering team.

Requirements
  • Previous experience in Facilities Management, Building Services or a similar environment.
  • Strong fabric/building maintenance background.
  • Good practical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to carry out both planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
  • Full UK driving licence desirable.
