Job summary

Smile Education Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Reception Teaching Assistant to support children transitioning from EYFS into Key Stage 1 in a Birmingham primary school. This full-time role starts ASAP and involves one-to-one SEN support as well as assisting the class with engaging learning.

Candidates with Level 3 TA qualification are highly desirable, with EYFS and Year 1 experience and strong references.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is highly desirable.
• Previous experience working within EYFS and Year 1 settings.
• Experience supporting children with SEN.
• A caring, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting learning.
• Confidence delivering both small group interventions and one-to-one support.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
• Proven school-based experience supported by strong references.

Responsibilities

• Supporting teaching and learning within a Year 1 classroom.
• Providing dedicated one-to-one support for a child with SEN.
• Assisting with interventions to support academic and social development.
• Helping to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment.
• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure pupils receive the support they need to succeed.
