Job summary

Step Teachers Ltd is seeking an EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing early years setting on a full-time, temporary-to-permanent basis from September 2026. The role involves supporting children's development following the EYFS framework, with opportunities for long-term progression.

The ideal candidate holds Level 2 EYFS/TA qualification, has EYFS experience, and demonstrates a caring, patient approach, strong communication, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Holds a Level 2 Early Years or Teaching Assistant qualification (essential)
• Experience working in an EYFS or early years setting
• Good understanding of the EYFS framework and child development
• Caring, patient, and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to start on a temporary basis with the opportunity to become permanent

Responsibilities

• Support children’s learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage
• Work with individuals and small groups to support early language, literacy, and numeracy skills
• Assist with play-based and structured learning activities
• Support children’s social, emotional, and behavioural development
• Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment
• Support daily routines, transitions, and personal care where required
• Work collaboratively with teachers and early years staff
• Observe and share information about children’s progress with the teaching team
• Promote positive behaviour and engagement
• Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
