Job summary

Wales & West Housing Group in Prestatyn is offering a 6 month fixed term Extra Care Assistant role at Nant Y Mor Extra Care Scheme. The position splits between Catering Assistant (15 hours) and Cleaner duties, with opportunities to take on additional cleaning shifts to cover gaps.

You will support residents in a friendly, respectful manner, working in a part-time, daytime setting with DBS check required. The role is on-site with regular weekends off and paid travel where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Cleaner: carry out routine cleaning of communal areas (lounges, dining rooms, bathrooms) following schedules and infection control procedures; maintain a safe, tidy and pleasant environment for residents and visitors.
• Catering Assistant: serve residents meals; assist with setting up and clearing dining area; support meal choices and ensure a welcoming dining experience; assist in kitchen with small prep jobs and keep kitchen and dining areas clean and compliant with food hygiene standards.

The Opportunity

Do you enjoy helping others and want to make a difference in people’s daily lives? We have an exciting 6 month fixed term opportunity to join our friendly team as an Extra Care Assistant at Nant Y Mor Extra Care Scheme in Prestatyn.

This dual-role opportunity gives you the chance to work as a Part-time Cleaner or Catering Assistant, depending on the needs of the scheme.

Whilst the position supports both areas the 15 hours is allocated for the Catering Assistant role, with the opportunity to pick up cleaning shifts to support any gaps that need to be filled due to annual leave or sickness cover.

What will you be doing?

Depending on which role you are working in, your duties will include:

As a Cleaner:

• Carrying out routine cleaning of communal areas such as lounges, dining rooms, and bathrooms – there is no cleaning of resident’s rooms required for this role.
• Following cleaning schedules and infection control procedures.
• Ensuring a safe, tidy, and pleasant environment for residents and visitors.

As a Catering Assistant:

• Serving residents meals
• Helping with setting up and clearing the dining area.
• Supporting residents with meal choices and ensuring a welcoming dining experience.
• Helping in the kitchen with small prep jobs such as peeling and chopping vegetables, and making sandwiches.
• Helping to keep the kitchen area and restaurant area clean and tidy
• Following food hygiene and safety standards.

You will also follow key policies, report concerns promptly, and provide a welcoming, supportive presence for residents.

This is not a personal care role. You will not be expected to provide personal care or medical support to residents. Your focus will be on catering and cleaning tasks to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for our residents.
