Job summary

Wales & West Housing is seeking an Extra Care Assistant for the MaesY Mor Extra Care Scheme in Aberystwyth. This six-month fixed-term, part-time role also covers cleaner and catering duties, with 12 hours allocated to catering and additional cleaning shifts as needed.

You will support residents by providing a welcoming, safe environment, carrying out kitchen and dining tasks without personal care duties, and working flexibly in a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

• Cleaner duties: clean communal areas, follow schedules and infection control.

The Opportunity

Do you enjoy helping others and want to make a difference in people's daily lives? We have an exciting 6 month fixed term opportunity to join our friendly team as anExtra Care Assistantat MaesY Mor Extra Care Scheme in Aberystwyth.

This dual-role opportunity gives you the chance to work as aPart-timeCleanerorCatering Assistant, depending on the needs of the scheme.

Whilst the position supports both areas the12 hoursis allocated for theCatering Assistantrole, with the opportunity to pick up cleaning shifts to support any gaps that need to be filled due to annual leave or sickness cover.

What will you be doing?

Depending on which role you are working in, your duties will include:

As a Cleaner:

• Carrying out routine cleaning of communal areas such as lounges, dining rooms, and bathrooms there is no cleaning of resident's rooms required for this role.

• Following cleaning schedules and infection control procedures.

• Ensuring a safe, tidy, and pleasant environment for residents and visitors.

As a Catering Assistant:

• Serving residents meals

• Helping with setting up and clearing the dining area.

• Supporting residents with meal choices and ensuring a welcoming dining experience.

• Helping in the kitchen with small prep jobs such as peeling and chopping vegetables, and making sandwiches.

• Helping to keep the kitchen area and restaurant area clean and tidy

• Following food hygiene and safety standards.

You will also follow key policies, report concerns promptly, and provide a welcoming, supportive presence for residents.

This is not a personal care role. You will not be expected to provide personal care or medical support to residents. Your focus will be on catering and cleaning tasks to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for our residents.
