Job summary

Tall Grass Recruitment in Romford is seeking an experienced Export Freight Operator to join a busy freight-forwarding operation. You will manage import or export shipments, coordinating Ocean, Air or European Road movements and handling documentation.

The role requires practical CDS familiarity, strong customer service, and the ability to manage multiple shipments with accuracy and proactive problem solving. Office-based, Monday–Friday, with a focus on reliable delivery performance.

Qualifications

• Experience within freight forwarding importing or exporting.

• Knowledge of CDS and customs-clearance procedures.
• Groupage experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage import or export shipments from booking through to final delivery.
• Coordinate Ocean, Air or European Road Freight movements.

• Complete or support customs declarations through CDS.
• Manage FCL, LCL or groupage shipments.
• Liaise with customers, overseas agents, shipping lines, airlines, hauliers and suppliers.
• Monitor shipments and provide customers with updates.
• Arrange collections and deliveries.
• Resolve delays, customs queries and operational issues.
• Maintain shipment records and processing invoices.
• Deliver excellent customer service throughout the shipment process.

Export Freight Operator

Location: Romford, Essex

Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum

Hours: Monday to Friday

Working arrangement: Fully office based

We are recruiting experienced Import and Export Operators to join a busy freight-forwarding operation in Romford.

Candidates with experience across Ocean, Air or Road Freight will be considered. You do not need experience in all three modes, but you must have previous import or export experience within a freight-forwarding environment.

The role:

• Managing import or export shipments from booking through to final delivery
• Coordinating Ocean, Air or European Road Freight movements
• Preparing and checking shipping and customs documentation
• Completing or supporting customs declarations through CDS
• Managing FCL, LCL or groupage shipments
• Liaising with customers, overseas agents, shipping lines, airlines, hauliers and suppliers
• Monitoring shipments and providing customers with regular updates
• Arranging collections and deliveries
• Resolving delays, customs queries and operational issues
• Maintaining accurate shipment records and processing invoices
• Delivering excellent customer service throughout the shipment process

What we are looking for:

• Previous import or export experience within freight forwarding
• Experience in Ocean, Air or Road Freight operations
