Responsibilities

• Documentation & Entry Processing: produce and process export docs (MAWBs, HAWBs, invoices, and customs declarations).
• Customs Compliance: complete customs entries per UK regulations and tariff requirements.
• Carrier & Stakeholder Liaison: coordinate with airlines, forwarders, and internal teams.
• Exception Handling: resolve live customs holds or paperwork issues during the evening shift.
• Record Keeping & Compliance: maintain accurate transaction records and audit trails.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 15:30 – 00:00 (Late Shift – flexibility available for the right candidate)

Salary: £35,000 – £42,000 per annum (Depending on Experience)

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Export Clerk (with the opportunity for a Senior Export Clerk title for candidates with advanced experience) to join a fast-paced late-shift operation. Working a 15:30 to 00:00 schedule, you will play a crucial role in processing evening export entries, preparing international shipping documentation, and ensuring all outbound shipments meet strict customs and airline deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Documentation & Entry Processing: Accurately produce and process export documentation, including Master Air Waybills (MAWBs), House Air Waybills (HAWBs), commercial invoices, and customs declarations.

• Customs Compliance: Complete customs entries via customs clearance systems, ensuring full adherence to UK customs regulations, international trade laws, and tariff requirements.

• Carrier & Stakeholder Liaison: Coordinate directly with airlines, transport providers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to ensure smooth cargo dispatch and transit.

• Exception Handling & Problem Solving: Assist in investigating and resolving live customs holds, paperwork discrepancies, or operational delays during the evening shift.

• Record Keeping & Compliance: Maintain accurate transaction records, files, and audit trails for all export shipments, staying up to date with changing customs regulations.

About You

Essential Criteria:

• Industry Experience: Solid background in export operations within air freight forwarding, logistics, or international supply chain.

• Customs Systems & Documentation: Direct experience using customs entry systems and a strong working knowledge of export paperwork (MAWBs, HAWBs, C88/CDS declarations).

• Late Shift Capability: Ability to reliably work the 15:30 to 00:00 shift pattern to support evening dispatch operations.

• Accuracy & Deadlines: High attention to detail with the ability to work independently and manage time-critical shipments under pressure.

• Communication: Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills to interact with airlines, hauliers, and internal stakeholders.

Senior Level Attributes (For Senior Export Clerk Consideration):

• Advanced experience in handling complex customs entries and resolving customs holds independently.

• Ability to act as a senior point of contact on shift and mentor junior team members.
