Job Overview

Are you a hands-on mechanic with a sharp eye for detail and a passion for diagnosing technical issues? VEGE is seeking an experienced, solution-focused Powertrain Technical Inspector to join our team of specialists. This role suits someone who enjoys methodical work, applying their mechanical expertise to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.

As a Powertrain Technical Inspector, your responsibilities include inspecting and dismantling returned engines and transmissions to identify faults. You will leverage your workshop experience to determine failure causes, document findings clearly, and contribute to product improvements. Your mechanical skills, curiosity, and problem-solving abilities will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Accurately document all information upon receiving warranted units.
  2. Verify unit identity using technical references and warranty/customer documentation.
  3. Capture and compare visual evidence of unit condition.
  4. Gather relevant failure reports to inform inspection strategy.
  5. Plan and perform disassembly for comprehensive root cause analysis.
  6. Organise, photograph, and document components for reporting.
  7. Present findings to the technical team and support collaborative analysis.
  8. Input conclusions into the ERP system.
  9. Communicate findings with suppliers and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  10. Share expertise and support team development through knowledge transfer.
  11. Contribute to best practice development and data accuracy initiatives.
Skills and Experience
  • A strong technical background in automotive engineering or related qualifications.
  • In-depth knowledge of powertrain components and systems.
  • Experience in automotive or aftermarket environments.
  • Excellent root cause analysis and investigative skills.
  • Clear, concise technical writing and presentation abilities.
  • A collaborative approach to teamwork and cross-functional discussions.
  • Familiarity with photography for documentation purposes.
