Job summary

The Supply Register, on behalf of the Newcastle College Group, is recruiting SEND Learning Support Workers to assist learners across Lewisham College, Southwark College and The Higher Education Centre. You will support students with a range of additional and complex learning needs to access education and build confidence.

Qualifications

  • Experience in SEND or SEN schools.
  • Experience in Further Education or Higher Education settings.
  • Experience in care, support work or healthcare roles.
  • Experience in youth work or community support is a plus.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn BSL or Makaton is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND.
  • Assist students to access learning across a range of subjects.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and personal development.
  • Support students with personal care where required.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students and staff.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider support team.

The Supply Register is delighted to be recruiting SEND Learning Support Workers on behalf of the Newcastle College Group (NCG). We are recruiting to support learners across Lewisham College, Southwark College, and The Higher Education Centre. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students aged with a range of additional and complex learning needs, helping them to access education, build confidence, and develop greater independence. No two days are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who is adaptable, compassionate, and committed to improving the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND.
  • Assist students to access learning across a range of subjects.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and personal development.
  • Support students with personal care where required.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider support team.

Experience We welcome applications from candidates with experience in:
  • SEND or SEN schools.
  • Further Education or Higher Education settings.
  • Colleges or educational environments.
  • Care, support work, or healthcare.
  • Youth work or community support.

Experience with British Sign Language (BSL) or Makaton would be highly advantageous but is not essential.

Salary
  • Expected working hours: hours per week, depending on student timetables and support requirements.
  • Pay rate: £114-£129 a day.
