Job summary

The Supply Register is recruiting SEND Learning Support Workers on behalf of Newcastle College Group for Lewisham College, Southwark College and The Higher Education Centre. The role supports students with SEND, fostering independence and confidence across college settings.

Working hours are typically 9:00am–4:00pm with flexible patterns per campus. Personal care may be required, and experience in SEND or FE/HE settings is preferred. BS L/Makaton is advantageous but not essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience in SEND or SEN schools or FE/HE settings.
  • Experience in care, support work or youth work is beneficial.
  • Ability to provide personal care when required.
  • BSL or Makaton experience is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND.
  • Assist students to access learning across a range of subjects.
  • Promote independence, confidence and personal development.
  • Support students with personal care where required.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students and staff.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider support team.
  • Create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
