Job summary

Cotswold Archaeology is seeking Experienced Archaeologists to join our Fieldwork teams in Milton Keynes on six-month fixed-term contracts with immediate start dates. The role covers diverse projects across England and Wales, with rostered away work including accommodation and subsistence.

The salary quoted is £29,844 per year. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including 30 days’ annual leave, a defined contribution pension, life insurance, paid CIfA membership (after qualifying period),

Qualifications

• Knowledge of archaeological practice and fieldwork methods.
• Ability to mentor and train less experienced staff.
• Proven experience in commercial archaeology and field supervision.

Responsibilities

• Undertake archaeological field investigations, including manual excavation and data collection.
• Record investigation data using pro-forma sheets, registers, drawings and photographs.
• Recover artefacts and environmental samples following established procedures.
• Undertake machine supervision/watching brief and survey duties.
• Mentor and train less experienced staff on-site.
• Undertake rapid manual excavation and accurate recording of data.
• Demonstrate knowledge of archaeological periods and practices.
• Interact professionally with sponsors, clients and the public.
• confidently use Leica GPS equipment.
• Contribute to Learning Reports and performance reviews.
