Ingeus UK, a leading human services provider, is seeking an In Custody Group Facilitator at HMP Durham to deliver short courses and support participants’ journey toward release. You will work with Support Workers and Peer Mentors to provide a comprehensive package for the last 12 weeks of custody, building confidence and reducing barriers.

Responsibilities

• Group Facilitation: delivering sessions to groups on topics such as goal setting, social interaction and positive decision making.
• Relationship Building: foster genuine, trusting, non-judgemental relationships with participants.
• 121 Support: one-to-one goal setting and progress reviews with participants.
• Caseload management: manage multiple individuals and handle related admin.
• Quality Recording: keep thorough, up-to-date records on the IT system.

Salary: £28,755.41 pa plus benefits

About the Role:

You’ll work within the prison delivering short courses to groups of participants to support them on their journey towards release, they are designed to be short, sharp and impactful so your ability to quickly build positive connections will be an important part of the role. You will work with Support Workers and Peer Mentors to deliver a comprehensive support package for their last 12 weeks of custody - as a key member of this dedicated team, you’ll help individuals overcome barriers, build confidence, and take meaningful steps toward rehabilitation.

This is a demanding yet deeply rewarding role. You'll be working in a challenging environment with individuals who have complex needs and may be hesitant to engage. However, when you help someone break the cycle and take real steps toward transforming their life, the impact is truly life-changing—for them and for you.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Group Facilitation You will be delivering sessions to groups of participants on a variety of topics such as goal setting, social interaction and positive decision making.
• Relationship Building: Foster genuine, trusting, and non-judgemental relationships with participants, creating a safe space for personal growth
• 121 Support: You will also be working 121 with participants setting and reviewing goals while ensuring accurate and timely recording
• Caseload management: You'll manage multiple individuals, balancing their needs while keeping up with all the related admin.
• Quality Recording: Keep thorough, up-to-date records of all your work on our IT system, ensuring progress is properly tracked.

Qualifications

What We are Looking For:

• Training/Facilitation experience: You will have the ability and confidence to deliver engaging sessions
• Communication Skills: You’ll have the ability to engage, motivate, persuade, and listen—building strong connections with those you support.
• Safeguarding awareness: You are supporting complex individuals at a challenging time in their lives and will need to be able to identify any safeguarding risks. You will be fully supported following any challenging interventions.
• IT and Administrative skills: Keeping meticulous records of every interaction to measure client progress and ensure effective interventions.
