Job summary

Ingeus is seeking a Personal Wellbeing Advisor to support individuals in custody and community settings from HMP Wealstun, HMP Leeds and surrounding areas. The role involves managing a caseload, building trust, and delivering tailored wellbeing actions within a challenging environment.

You will conduct assessments, create action plans, and collaborate with probation teams and other departments to aid reintegration and sustain progress.

Personal Wellbeing Advisor (Custody and Community)

Contract: Full Time Permanent

Location: HMP Wealstun and HMP Leeds and Leeds and Wakefield Community support

We’re looking for a Personal Well-being Advisor — someone with a rare mix of compassion, resilience, organisation and flexibility. This is for the person who understands that rehabilitation isn’t just about offering advice; it’s about rolling up your sleeves and pro-actively supporting someone on their journey.

This is a demanding role; you'll be working in a challenging environment with people who have complex needs and who can be reluctant to engage. But when you help someone break the cycle and you see them take real steps toward transforming their life, it’s a great feeling.

About the Role:

You will support a caseload of service users in custody, previously released from prison, on a suspended sentence or on community orders. Based out of the local probation offices, Ingeus offices and prison sites you will be working collaboratively with pre-release teams, probation and other internal departments to support them on their journey.

You will need to be able to juggle multiple individuals at once, ensuring each person gets the support they need, while keeping meticulous records of every interaction.

You’ll often be able to plan your own schedule, but you will need to be able to prioritise effectively - it’s a challenging role where no day will be the same.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Assessments and Action Plans: You will complete personal wellbeing assessments and create tailored action plans for each individual you work with. You will guide individuals as per their action plan, helping them reintegrate through practical well-being activities.
• Collaboration: Your intervention may be part of a wider support package so collaborating with internal and external colleagues is a key part of the role.
• Caseload Management: You’ll manage multiple individuals, balancing their needs while keeping up with all the related admin.
• Partnership Working: Identify relevant local organisations to enhance the offering to our service users.
• Quality Recording: Keep thorough, up-to-date records of all your work on our IT systems

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

• Relationship Building: You’re able to connect with people at all levels, engaging with key stakeholders within Probation and building relationships with Service Users in a way that’s genuine, promotes a sense of trust and is non-judgmental, with particular attention to confidentiality and maintenance of boundaries.
• Safeguarding awareness: You are supporting complex individuals at a challenging time in their lives and will need to be able to identify any safeguarding risks.
• IT and Administrative skills: Keeping meticulous records of every interaction to measure client progress and ensure effective interventions.
• Organisation: You can handle a busy caseload and stay on top of detailed records.
• Resilience: This role can be challenging, and results may take time, but you are the kind of person who stays committed and sees things through.

Additional Information

Whilst we welcome applications from those with lived experience, this role requires an enhanced DBS check and HMPPS EL1 vetting. Due to the time required to complete these checks, successful candidates will be offered a start date at least 6 weeks from the point of job offer. This should allow sufficient time for all necessary pre-employment clearances to be obtained
