Job summary

Dakota County Sheriff's Office in Hastings is seeking a part-time Evidence Technician to manage daily evidence tasks. You will receive, log, categorize and store property, maintaining chain of custody using the sheriff's records management system and assist with evidence at crime scenes when needed.

The role requires a high school diploma and one year of related clerical experience, plus a valid driver’s license. Evening/weekend flexibility and a background check are expected.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high-school diploma.
• One year of experience in a criminal justice related clerical, support or administrative position.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Inventory and maintain chain of custody of property and evidence submitted by Sheriff's Office Personnel by entering and recording evidence into records management systems.
• Inventory, release of property, and organization of Sheriff's office property room.
• Disposal of unwanted or abandoned property pursuant to policy and state statute.
• Monitor, empty, and properly dispose of pharmaceuticals collected under the Sheriffs Prescription Take-Back Program.
