Job summary

Southampton City Council is seeking a part-time cleaner for a physically demanding role on a school site in Southampton. The role involves cleaning across a large area, moving between zones, and handling cleaning equipment to maintain a clean, safe environment for pupils and staff.

Shifts run 3.30pm–6.00pm, Monday to Friday during term time, with potential holiday hours for deep cleaning. Training will be provided and access to LGPS pension, wellbeing initiatives, and discounts are offered.

Qualifications

• Physically fit and able to clean a large school site.
• Comfortable undertaking manual cleaning tasks, including lifting and prolonged standing/walking.
• Flexibile and adaptable to meet the needs of the school.
• Able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Wiping down surfaces and touch points.
• Vacuuming carpeted areas and mopping hard floors.
• Emptying bins and disposing of waste appropriately.
• Cleaning toilet and washroom facilities.
