Job summary

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is recruiting a Patient Services Assistant for our Burnley General Teaching Hospital. The role supports in-patients with general cleaning and ensures timely delivery of specialist cleaning to high standards in a busy hospital environment.

You will work the evening shift (4pm-10pm) on a part-time basis, with flexibility to move between full-time, part-time or weekend shifts according to personal circumstances.

Qualifications

• General cleaning duties across wards, clinics, toilets, offices and public areas within your zone.
• Effective communication in written and spoken English is essential.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking general cleaning duties – including wards, clinics, toilets, offices and public areas within your zone.
• Undertaking deep cleans in your area which may include.
• Clearing up and removing bodily spillages, urine, vomit, faeces and so on.
• The safe movement and decontamination of beds and other furniture.
• Cleaning at high and low levels eg removal and replacement of curtains, using ladders where necessary.
• Buffing, scrubbing and redressing of floors as well as carpet cleaning using appropriate machinery involving under bed cleaning.
• Moving patients around the hospital safely using a wheelchair, bed or trolley as required.
• Movement of deceased patients in an appropriate and sensitive manner.
