Job summary

St Albans School is seeking a reliable Late Porter (afternoons and evenings) to join the Estates team. The role involves porterage, security, and caretaking duties to maintain safe, secure, and well-presented facilities. You will lock/unlock facilities, monitor CCTV, and liaise with transport providers to ensure safe pupil departures.

Previous caretaking or security experience is advantageous but not essential. The post is full-time, 40 hours per week, working 3pm to midnight, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Good literacy and numeracy.
• Basic IT skills (e.g. using standard software).

Responsibilities

• Secure and steward School buildings and grounds, including locking/unlocking facilities.
• Monitor alarm systems and CCTV; control site access; patrols.
• Assist with deliveries and events setup; maintain cleanliness and presentation of key areas.
