Job summary

Ivy Resource Group are recruiting an experienced Estimator for a permanent role based in Gloucester. You will handle tenders across education, healthcare, commercial property, residential housing and private clients, with project values from a few hundred pounds to £25 million.

The role includes reviewing documents, measuring quantities, preparing costs, obtaining subcontractor quotes, and building the tender price while ensuring profitability. Strong tendering experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Understanding of building methods and trades.
• Ability to quantify labour, materials and costs.
• Experience with construction tenders and pricing.

Responsibilities

• Review tender documents and study drawings, specs and schedules.
• Measure quantities and calculate labour, materials and work.
• Prepare cost estimates for materials, labour, plant and subcontractors.
• Obtain subcontractor quotations and compare prices.
• Analyse project risks and commercial costs.
• Build tender price and submit to client.
• Collaborate with QS, contracts managers, buyers, architects and engineers.
• Check quotations for accuracy and competitiveness.
• Attend site visits to understand conditions and logistics.
• Meet tender deadlines and support negotiations.
• Learn from past projects to improve estimates.
• Protect profit margins with accurate costing.
