Job summary

Orion Electrotech is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our electronics manufacturing team. You will calculate production costs from data packs, drawings, BOMs, and specifications, delivering accurate, competitive cost estimates.

You''ll work with Purchasing and Engineering to capture tooling, processes, and supplier quotes, maintaining costing templates and providing reliable quotations to support growth.

Qualifications

• Previous estimating experience in electronics/electrical manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Review customer data packs, technical drawings, and BOMs.
• Generate BOMs in Excel when documentation is incomplete.
• Calculate production costs including materials, labour, and processes.
• Liaise with Purchasing for pricing and supplier quotations.
• Identify tooling or manufacturing requirements impacting costs.
• Collaborate with Engineering to clarify processes and requirements.
• Maintain costing templates and pricing models.
• Prepare accurate quotations in line with company standards.

The Role

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for calculating production costs for a wide range of electronic manufacturing projects. Working from customer data packs, engineering drawings, bills of materials, and technical specifications, you will prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates covering materials, labour, and manufacturing requirements.

Key Responsibilities of the Estimator

• Review and analyse customer manufacturing data packs, technical drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).
• Generate BOMs in Excel where customer documentation is incomplete or unavailable.
• Calculate production costs, including materials, labour, and manufacturing processes.
• Liaise with the Purchasing team to obtain component pricing and supplier quotations.
• Identify any specialist tooling or manufacturing requirements that may impact costs.
• Work closely with the Engineering team to clarify manufacturing processes and technical requirements.
• Maintain and update internal costing templates and pricing models.
• Prepare accurate and competitive quotations in line with company standards.

Requirements of the Estimator
