Job summary

H Squared Talent Ltd is seeking an Estimating Engineer to join our growing manufacturing business. You will review customer enquiries, technical drawings and specifications to determine manufacturability and produce robust, well-costed quotations.

Reporting to the Sales Manager, you will manage the estimating process from enquiry through quotation submission, liaise with suppliers for RFQs and ensure accurate cost data is reflected in every quote.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering experience.
• Good understanding of engineering drawings and symbols.
• Willingness to learn and develop technical/commercial knowledge.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Manage the estimating process from enquiry to quotation submission.
• Review drawings, CAD models and specifications for manufacturability.
• Prepare quotations covering materials, processes, tooling, finishing, inspection and subcontract costs.
• Issue RFQs to approved suppliers and incorporate costs into quotes.
• Maintain supplier pricing and estimating data.
• Support cost estimates and BOMs for New Product Introduction.
• Maintain accurate ERP records.
• Attend customer meetings with the Sales team when required.

We're looking for a detail-focused Estimating Engineer to join a growing manufacturing business, preparing accurate and commercially competitive quotations for customers across a range of engineering and subcontract manufacturing projects.

About the Role

Reporting to the Sales Manager, you'll be responsible for reviewing customer enquiries, technical drawings and specifications to determine manufacturing feasibility and produce robust, well-costed quotations. You'll work closely with the Sales team and other departments to ensure customer requirements are fully understood and reflected accurately in every quote.

The role:

• Managing the estimating process from enquiry through to quotation submission
• Reviewing engineering drawings, CAD models and technical specifications to assess manufacturability
• Preparing quotations covering materials, processes, tooling, finishing, inspection and subcontract costs
• Issuing Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to approved suppliers and incorporating returned costs into customer quotes
• Maintaining accurate supplier pricing and estimating data
• Supporting New Product Introduction with cost estimates, Bills of Materials and manufacturing routings
• Maintaining accurate records within the company's ERP system
• Occasionally joining customer meetings alongside the Sales team

What We're Looking For

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience in an engineering environment
• A basic understanding of engineering drawings and symbols
• Strong willingness to learn and develop technical/commercial knowledge
• Comfortable interpreting technical or quality-related documentation
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
