Job summary

Structivus Ltd in Colchester is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our established construction team. You will prepare accurate cost estimates from drawings and specifications and support tender submissions.

The ideal candidate will have strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects to deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Hybrid working may be considered after onboarding.

Job description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estimator to join a well-established business operating within the construction sector. This role is ideally suited to someone with a strong estimating background and experience in architectural metalwork or a related industry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive cost estimates, interpreting technical drawings and specifications, and supporting the successful delivery of tender submissions. This is a varied position requiring excellent attention to detail, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will have:

• Previous estimating experience within the construction industry.
• Experience within architectural metalwork or the wider metalwork industry would be highly advantageous.
• A strong understanding of technical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
• Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail with a methodical approach to work.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
• Good commercial awareness and the ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions from drawings and specifications.
• Analyse project documentation to identify costs, risks, and opportunities.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders throughout the estimating process.
• Ensure all estimates are completed accurately and submitted within required timescales.
• Maintain estimating records and support continuous improvement of estimating processes.

Working Arrangements

This is primarily an office-based position. However, for the right candidate, a hybrid working arrangement may be considered following a successful onboarding period.
