Job summary

MEPJOBS UK is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join its commercial team in Basildon. You will prepare detailed estimates for projects up to £5 million, reviewing drawings and tender docs and coordinating with suppliers and internal teams throughout the tender process.

The role requires interpreting electrical drawings, knowledge of building-services systems and proficiency with estimating software and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Experience as Electrical Estimator in an M&E/building-services contractor.
• Knowledge of electrical building-services systems.
• Experience on public-sector projects (education/healthcare).

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate electrical estimates for projects valued up to £5 million.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Produce project costings within required tender timescales.
• Obtain competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Identify potential project risks and value-engineering opportunities.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
• Work with the pre-construction and project teams to hand over successful tenders.
• Remain informed about relevant industry standards, regulations and pricing.

Electrical Estimator - M&E / Building Services

Location: Basildon, Essex

Project locations: London and the Home Counties

Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum, depending on experience

Sector: M&E building services – public sector, education and healthcare

Project values: Up to £5 million

The Company

Our client is an established M&E contractor delivering electrical and mechanical building-services projects across London and the Home Counties.

Its portfolio includes new-build and refurbishment projects within public-sector buildings, schools and healthcare facilities.

The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join its commercial team in Basildon. You will prepare detailed and competitive electrical estimates for projects valued up to £5 million.

This will involve reviewing tender documentation, producing accurate costings and liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and internal project teams throughout the tender process.

• Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Office
• Strong numerical, organisational and attention-to-detail skills
• Effective communication and negotiation skills
• Able to work independently and collaboratively within a commercial and project team
