Job summary

Progroup Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Estimating Team Lead/Manager in the UK fire door sector to head up the estimating function. You will lead the process from enquiry to handover, ensuring accurate, competitive, and compliant quotations while developing a high‑performing team.

You will oversee tender submissions, drive process improvements, and report to the senior leadership team. The role involves mentoring, client liaison, and seamless tender-to-delivery handoffs.

Qualifications

• Experience in passive fire protection or fire doors.
• Experience leading an estimating team.
• Strong understanding of Schedule of Rates and first-principles estimating.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of estimators with coaching and performance management.
• Manage fire door tenders from enquiry to submission and handover.
• Produce and review estimates using SOR pricing and first-principles estimation.
• Interpret drawings and tender docs to develop pricing solutions.
• Review proposals for commercially viable and compliant solutions.
• Manage tender programmes, approvals and deadlines.
• Identify commercial, contractual and technical risks.
• Liaise with clients on technical and commercial queries.
• Work with sales and operations to ensure smooth tender delivery.
• Monitor estimating pipeline and team performance.
• Support continuous improvement of estimating procedures.
