Head of Estimating / Estimating Director

About the Role

This is a lead role, heading up a preconstruction / estimating department within a modern concrete structures and groundwork business. You will have a direct working relationship with the MD and the senior management team, and you will have the autonomy to run and develop your own department as you see fit. Initially, you will be hands-on, pricing and taking tenders from enquiry through to award. The role offers the opportunity to grow and develop your own team from day one, so leadership skills are essential. The successful candidate will price a variety of concrete structures and groundwork packages on major civil engineering schemes for a £20 million turnover contractor, with potential for ownership and profit share as the business grows.

About the Company

Based in Buckinghamshire (near the M25), this privately owned business specialises in the construction of reinforced concrete structures and associated groundwork packages, working for major civil engineering main contractors and schemes such as HS2. Current turnover is around £20 million per annum, with plans to grow by £5–£10m per year. The company owns its building, plant, formwork, and more, maintains a strong focus on quality and systems, and invests to build security and better conditions for staff. This is a dynamic and exciting business to work for.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in the concrete structures and groundwork sector.
• Involvement in tendering and producing estimates; capable of leading preconstruction meetings for packages ranging from £500,000 to £(phone number removed) or above.
• A readiness to step up into a department head role with leadership responsibilities, or existing experience in a leading role.
