Job summary

South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Building Maintenance Technician to support ambulance service operations. The role covers maintenance across SECAmb estates, carrying out planned and reactive tasks to keep facilities safe and compliant.

Based across multiple SECAmb sites with travel across the Southeast, you will perform minor repairs (plumbing, carpentry, electrical), conduct inspections, assist with safety compliance, and support contractors while

Qualifications

• Basic qualification in a building or maintenance-related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Health & Safety awareness training.
• Driving licence suitable for a van; understanding of health & safety requirements in the workplace.
• Formal training in electrical, plumbing, or carpentry.
• Knowledge of NHS estate compliance standards.
• Awareness of statutory compliance (e.g. Legionella, fire safety, electrical safety).
• Manual Handling training.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical day-to-day maintenance support across a defined region.
• Carry out a broad range of minor repairs and maintenance tasks within competence (basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, decoration, fabric repairs).
• Conduct routine inspections of buildings and facilities to identify defects, wear and tear, hazards.
• Assist in maintaining site safety and statutory compliance and report hazards/defects.
• Support contractors on site and assist with installations and movement of equipment.

Education

NVQ Level 2/3 in Maintenance / Building Services (or equivalent)
