Job summary

South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician to support ambulance service estates in Guildford. The role covers routine maintenance, safety checks and compliance to keep sites functional for frontline operations.

The post is NHS AfC Band 4 with travel across SECAmb sites, potential unsociable hours, and a strong emphasis on safe, compliant facilities management. A van driving licence and safety training are required.

Qualifications

• Basic qualification in a building or maintenance‑related discipline OR equivalent experience.
• Health & Safety awareness training.
• Driving licence suitable for a van.
• Understanding of health & safety requirements in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical day to day maintenance support across a defined region, ensuring SECAmb sites remain safe, functional, compliant, and well‑maintained.
• Based across multiple SECAmb sites with travel across the Southeast region; may include unsociable hours / on‑call duties to maintain 24/7 operations; carry out minor repairs (plumbing, carpentry, electrical, decoration, fabric repairs, cleaning, portering).
• Conduct routine inspections of buildings and facilities to identify defects and hazards; support planned inspections and compliance checks; maintain site safety and statutory compliance.
