Job summary

The Windsor Forest Colleges Group is seeking a Facilities Assistant for the Berkshire College of Agriculture campus. This is a full-time, permanent role within the Estates team, working 39 hours weekly (Mon–Thu 6:30am–3:00pm; Fri 6:30am–2:00pm).

Salary ranges from £26,860.46 to £28,758.81 per year, depending on experience, based on a 37-hour week. The role involves hands-on maintenance, safety checks and coordinating with external contractors to keep buildings safe and well‑maintained.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS and Barred List checks required.

Responsibilities

• Configure heating, electrical, lighting and building management systems; assist with mechanical/electrical repairs and improvements across the college estate.
• Undertake planned preventative maintenance; support fire safety checks, Legionella management, biomass boilers, PAT and emergency lighting.
• Manage helpdesk requests via Facilities Management system; prepare rooms for teaching/events; carry out porterage and fuel supply duties.
• Open/close college buildings daily; respond to fire and intruder alarms; work with external contractors on site.
• Maintain safe working practices; comply with Health and Safety procedures; support COSHH requirements and risk assessments.
• Contribute to day-to-day operation of a busy campus and deliver high standards of facilities.
