Job summary

Bedford College Group seeks a Compliance Operative to join the Estates and Facilities team. You will perform compliance inspections, preventative maintenance and maintain records to ensure safety and regulatory compliance across multiple sites.

The role requires driving across Bedford College sites, flexibility, and a proactive approach to safety and customer service. Right to work in the UK is essential, with permanent full-time employment.

Qualifications

• Holds GCSE English and Maths qualifications and experience in maintenance, facilities, estates, construction or compliance environments.
• Knowledge of statutory compliance, health and safety, fire safety, water hygiene and building maintenance principles.
• Experienced in planned maintenance and inspection activities, and maintaining accurate records and documentation.
• Proficient with CAFM or maintenance systems and applying risk assessments and safe systems of work.

Responsibilities

• Carry out compliance inspections, statutory testing and monitoring across fire safety, water hygiene, asbestos, electrical safety, gas systems and lifting equipment.
• Undertake planned preventative maintenance, minor repairs and reactive maintenance to keep buildings safe and functional.
• Maintain compliance records, update maintenance documentation and prepare reports for audits.
• Monitor contractors on site, verify permits and risk assessments, and support health and safety standards.
