Job summary

SMBC Group is seeking an AVP-level ESG Technical Business Analyst to support regulatory change initiatives (CRD VI and CSDR) with a focus on data-driven solutions. You will bridge ESG SMEs, data teams, and technology, ensuring regulatory alignment and scalable designs.

You will translate ESG requirements into technical designs, backlogs, and analytics, leveraging Excel, SQL, Python/R, and strong data governance. Hybrid work and competitive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data analysis and technical business analysis within financial services.
• Strong knowledge of CRD VI / CRR ESG integration and CSDR (settlement discipline and reporting).
• Proficient with Excel (advanced), SQL, and Python and/or R for data analysis and automation.
• Experience with data models, data lineage, and regulatory reporting datasets/systems.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical designs and delivery artifacts; produce BRDs/FRDs and data flows.
• Experience in Agile delivery, backlog ownership, and SDLC governance.
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and ability to work across Risk and Technology teams.

Responsibilities

• Work with ESG SMEs to refine business requirements for CRD VI and CSDR, ensuring regulatory alignment.
• Validate requirements against regulatory frameworks; identify gaps and ambiguities.
• Translate validated requirements into functional specs, designs, and backlog items.
• Design scalable data architectures, data models, and data flows with governance in mind.
• Define epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria for Agile delivery.
• Develop ESG reporting calculations and prototypes for analytics and decision making.
• Lead data sourcing, profiling, and reconciliation; identify data quality issues and transformations.
• Collaborate with data engineering and architecture teams on pipelines and integration patterns.
• Produce documentation: BRDs, FRDs, data flows, and process maps.
