Job description

An exciting opportunity is available to join our clinical and radiotherapy engineering team as an Equipment Coordinator Band 3. The clinical and radiotherapy engineering team is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and management of a wide range of medical devices across The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

As part of the team, your role will contribute to the safe treatment of our patients and help maintain a high-quality and efficient engineering service.

Working hours are 37.5 per week, and you will work across various sites within Greater Manchester.

The successful candidate will be dedicated, flexible, well-organized, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Previous experience in an electronics or healthcare setting is essential.

You will assist our engineering teams with day-to-day equipment administration and coordination support. This includes the administration of the service and repair of medical devices in line with our ISO 9001 quality system. You should be confident liaising with a wide range of stakeholders across the trust and external providers regarding medical device administration. The role also involves monitoring contracts, including organizing repairs and servicing of medical devices.

Our engineering team comprises individuals with varied responsibilities. Patient safety is our top priority; therefore, conscientiousness and attention to detail are key skills within the team.

Our engineers are based at the main Christie site in Withington and satellite departments throughout Greater Manchester. You will be based at Withington but expected to travel between sites and outreach areas using your vehicle to transport medical devices.

This role offers a rewarding opportunity within a department that contributes to the safe and efficient treatment of patients.

The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centers, treating over 60,000 patients annually. Located in Manchester, it serves a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester and Cheshire. As a national specialist, approximately 15% of patients are referred from other parts of the country.

We provide radiotherapy through one of the largest departments in the world; chemotherapy on-site and across 14 other hospitals; highly specialized surgery for complex and rare cancers; and a wide range of support and diagnostic services. We are also an international leader in research, with over 100 years of world-first breakthroughs.

Our large early clinical trial unit conducts over 300 trials annually. Cancer research at The Christie is ranked as the best in the UK.
