Job summary

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD is seeking an organised and customer-focused Hire Desk Controller for a Harpenden-based equipment hire business. You will manage hire enquiries, coordinate availability and ensure a smooth service for customers.

This role requires strong customer service, excellent organisation, and the ability to work with drivers and internal teams to deliver timely equipment delivery and returns.

Responsibilities

• Managing incoming hire enquiries, bookings and customer requests.
• Preparing hire quotations, processing orders and confirming equipment availability.
• Coordinating equipment deliveries, collections and off-hires.
• Maintaining accurate hire records, contracts and customer information.
• Liaising with customers to understand their requirements and recommend suitable equipment.
• Coordinating with drivers, transport teams, service engineers and depot staff to ensure equipment is delivered on time.
• Monitoring ongoing hires, extensions and returns, ensuring records are kept up to date.
• Handling customer queries and resolving hire-related issues professionally.
• Supporting the wider team with the day-to-day administration and smooth operation of the hire desk.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with new and existing customers.
