Job description
Equine Veterinary Surgeon – Newbury
  • Join a fully independent equine practice just outside Newbury, working with a varied and exciting caseload across racing, sport, and leisure horses, all supported by an outstanding team.
  • Enjoy true clinical freedom and the chance to develop special interests, including opportunities to grow and shape a stud medicine caseload.
  • Be part of a friendly, supportive, and highly experienced team where excellent support staff create an exceptional working environment every day.
  • Benefit from a competitive salary up to £70,000 DOE, plus a generous benefits package, all while enjoying a fantastic countryside location with great lifestyle balance.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join a fully independent, proudly branded practice located just outside Newbury on the beautiful Berkshire/Hampshire border. With a strong reputation and a diverse client base spanning racing, sport, and leisure horses, this practice offers a genuinely varied and rewarding caseload where no two days are the same.

This is a welcoming, forward thinking team that values independence, clinical freedom, and doing what is right for both horses and clients. The role provides exposure across a wide range of equine services, including preventative healthcare, dentistry, reproduction, poor performance investigations, orthopaedic and medical cases, event cover, and pre-purchase examinations. An interest in stud medicine is welcomed and encouraged, with exciting plans to further build and develop the stud caseload, but it is by no means essential.

You will be supported by an exceptional, highly experienced support team who play a vital role in maintaining a smooth, efficient, and enjoyable working environment. Collaboration, mutual respect, and shared learning are central to the practice culture, ensuring you feel supported while still having the autonomy to practice high quality, progressive equine medicine.

Set in a stunning countryside location with excellent access to Newbury and surrounding areas, this role offers the perfect balance of professional fulfilment and lifestyle. For an Equine Veterinary Surgeon seeking a friendly, independent practice with a balanced workload, strong team ethos, and a genuine commitment to excellence, this is an opportunity not to be missed!
