Job summary

JDR Recruitment is recruiting an Equine Instructor for a Northern Ireland Civil Service assignment at CAFRE Enniskillen Campus. You will deliver practical equine education across racing, equitation and breeding units, and support students, lecturers and campus operations.

The role requires hands-on teaching, supervision of learners, record-keeping, and day-to-day equine management. A driving licence is essential; willingness to work outside normal hours is expected.

Qualifications

• At least 4 GCSEs/GCE O Levels (C or above) including English and Mathematics.
• Level 3 Extended Diploma in Horse Management or closely related subject.
• At least 1 year's relevant experience in an equine setting.
• Full current driving licence enabling them to drive in Northern Ireland.

• Plan, set up and deliver practical equine classes.
• Support lecturers and instructors with practical education and knowledge transfer.
• Supervise learners and monitor attendance and assessment outcomes.

Pay: Approx. £17.43 per hour
Hours: 37 hours | Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
Contract: Temporary assignment - 19 October 2026 to 21 May 2027

The successful candidate will deliver practical equine education across the racing, equitation and breeding units, while supporting students, lecturers and the day-to-day management of the campus equine facilities.

The Role

• Support lecturers and instructors with practical education and knowledge transfer.
• Supervise learners and monitor attendance and assessment outcomes.
• Assist students with practical dissertation work and data collection.
• Carry out day-to-day equine management duties.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must have:

• At least a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Horse Management or a closely related subject.
• At least 1 year's relevant experience in an equine setting.
• A full current driving licence enabling them to drive in Northern Ireland.

Applicants should also be prepared to work outside normal hours when required, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate will be required to complete the relevant pre-employment checks and obtain Enhanced security clearance.
