Job summary

JDR Recruitment is seeking a Livestock Instructor for a Northern Ireland Civil Service assignment with DAERA at CAFRE Greenmount Campus. You will deliver and assess practical livestock skills to Level 2 agriculture students, focusing on sheep and cattle handling, weighing, dosing, injecting and tagging.

The role requires a Level 3 qualification in Agriculture and at least four GCSEs including English and Maths, with strong knowledge of sheep and cattle husbandry.

Hours: 37 hours | Monday-Friday,Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
9am-5pmContract: Temporary assignment - 5 October 2026 to 30 June 2027

The successful candidate will deliver and assess practical livestock skills to Level 2 agriculture students, with a focus on sheep and cattle handling.

The Role

You will:

• Teach practical sheep and cattle skills to Level 2 students.
• Deliver instruction in weighing, dosing, injecting and tagging livestock.
• Teach selection of animals for slaughter.
• Assess student competence in practical livestock tasks.
• Record learner performance and provide feedback.
• Complete required teaching and assessment documentation.
• Undertake relevant training as required by awarding bodies and CAFRE.CAFRE

Essential Criteria

Applicants must have:

• A Level 3 qualification in Agriculture.
• At least 4 GCSEs/GCSEsGCE GCEO Levels at Grade C or above, including English and Mathematics, or equivalent.
• Strong technical knowledge of practical sheep and cattle husbandry.

Previous experience delivering and assessing student learning would be advantageous.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate will be required to complete the relevant pre-preemployment checks and obtain Enhanced security clearance.

Occasional overtime may also be available to support student extra-curricular activities.
