West Coast Partnership Development is a trusted partner of the Department for Transport (DfT) working towards creating and implementing operations for High Speed 2 Ltd (HS2). The focus is on designing, developing, and mobilising high-speed service operations to deliver benefits such as increased capacity, quicker journey times, and enhanced customer experience.
We are offering an exciting opportunity to join the Fleet & Depots team as Environmental Specialist. This role primarily focuses on Carbon Emissions, Waste Management, Air Quality, Noise and Vibration, and Pollution Control. Reporting to the Product Lead of the IS Sustainable Development Strategy (also known as Head of HS Fleet Technical), you will collaborate with a dedicated team to create, research, and deliver a Sustainability Strategy and Roadmap for West Coast Partnership Development (WCPD).
You will support integrating the rail industry’s Sustainable Rail Blueprint within this strategy and provide expertise in carbon and natural environmental matters to the WCPD Integrated Services Sustainable Development Strategy.
Typical Projects Will Include:
The role requires working within cross-functional teams, leading initiatives where appropriate, and building a network of contacts across WCPD and stakeholders to inform the Sustainability Strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
The role is based in London, with a requirement for some travel; a minimum of 3 days per week in the office is expected.
About West Coast Partnership Development:
WCPD includes Avanti West Coast, operating InterCity West Coast train services from London to North England, North Wales, and Scotland. Our work focuses on developing plans for new high-speed services—covering customer experience, railway operations, and mobilisation—over the next decade, in partnership with HS2 Ltd.
