Senior/Principal Environmental Consultant

Location: Flexible, United Kingdom

Join our CST Team as a Senior/Principal Environmental Consultant to contribute towards a sustainable future.

Your new role

As a Senior/Principal Environmental Consultant, you will join a friendly, fast-growing team providing environmental compliance and permitting support to both national and multinational clients. You will work on diverse projects, such as designing compliance programs for data centres, implementing management systems for pharmaceutical companies, setting environmental criteria for recycling plants, or decommissioning food manufacturing sites, helping clients expand and adapt while maintaining high environmental standards. Being part of Ramboll, you will contribute to multidisciplinary projects domestically and internationally, supporting the transition to Net-Zero energy industries.

Your key responsibilities will be:
  1. Prepare, conduct, and lead environmental, health & safety compliance audits.
  2. Manage multi-site audit programs, including multinational efforts, collaborating with global Ramboll teams.
  3. Work with subject matter experts to assess EHS impacts of proposed developments concerning compliance and permitting.
  4. Understand client needs and assist in developing successful proposals.
  5. Manage permitting and compliance projects within Ramboll’s Project Model system, ensuring timely and budgeted delivery.
  6. Identify and communicate EHS risks and opportunities to foster sustainable client relationships.
  7. Stay updated on the latest regulations and standards, sharing insights with the team.
  8. Contribute to the technical and digital development of our compliance and permitting services.
About you
  • Experience in environmental consultancy or similar with knowledge of environmental regulations.
  • Understanding of UK environmental regulatory frameworks and auditing processes.
  • Strong report writing skills.
  • Passion for sustainable environmental practices and awareness of the environmental marketplace.
  • Project management experience.
  • Ability to identify EHS risks and liabilities.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or Diploma in health and safety is advantageous; practical experience may substitute formal qualifications.
  • Memberships in professional institutions (e.g., IOSH, IEMA) are beneficial.
