Why MAG?

MAG we provide the airport facilities and travel services that people need to connect with the world. As the largest UK owned airport operator, we serve over 60 million passengers a year from Manchester, London Stansted, and East Midlands Airports. With over 270 destinations across the globe, our businesses not only bring people together but also support the prosperity of the regions in which we operate.

Sustainability is a strategic priority for MAG, and we recognise that protecting the environment must be central to the plans we make. You will be joining us at an exciting time where we are launching a series of new strategies around sustainability, nature conservation, and sustainable procurement to reinforce our commitment.

Our award-winning Environment Team is looking for more passionate individuals who can help us continue to make positive changes to the environment, reacting at pace to changes in legislation emerging risks, and continual better practice, whilst engaging with stakeholders, both within and outside the airport community.

At MAG, we recognise creating a first-class journey for our customers starts by creating a first-class career journey for our colleagues and we are committed to building inclusive environments in which our people can thrive. You'll also have access to some great benefits including:

  • Flexible and generous company pension plan with various company contribution options (up to 10%) that you can change to suit your personal needs
  • 24 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Free parking
  • Subsidised public transport
  • Huge range of company discounts
  • Free Virtual GP service, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Two volunteering days per year
The role

The Environmental Specialist will ensure that airport development and operation is conducted in accordance with environmental legal requirements, best practice principles and MAG corporate policy. The role will act as the custodian of the Environmental Management system and will hold internal departments, 3rd parties and contractors operating at the airport to account for their environmental impact and performance.

In this role you will ensure implementation of standards for legal compliance, pollution prevention and environmental performance across the airport, and support on environmental engagement with the airport community, including designing effective methods for communicating and engaging with stakeholders.

You will also support and help drive the re-certification to ISO 14001 ensuring that the Environment Management System is updated and that non-conformities are addressed in an appropriate manner. You will have responsibility for producing environmental presentations and briefing notes to relevant stakeholders.

What will make you successful in the role?

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role is required, and it would be desirable for you to have aviation experience.

  • A passion for environmental issues and championing innovation and continuous improvement in environmental practices is key for this role.
