Job summary

NRL is seeking an Environment Manager to lead environmental management on a major rail civils construction project. You will drive compliance with EMRs, CoCP, and UK legislation while coordinating with IPTs to integrate environmental considerations across design and construction.

You will oversee technical assurance for stage gates, provide environmental design guidance, manage reporting, and engage with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in environmental management on major infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of EMRs, CoCP, environmental permitting, and UK legislation.
• Chartered Environmentalist or senior professional membership required.
• Experience leading teams and mentoring junior professionals.

Responsibilities

• Oversee environmental assurance across technical stage gates and design adherence.
• Coordinate with IPT for risk-based technical assurance.
• Verify designs and construction meet EMRs and CoCP.
• Communicate Environment & Sustainability requirements to contractors.
• Provide direction on environmental design solutions.
• Support reporting and stakeholder engagement.
• Develop cost-effective environmental mitigation strategies.
• Champion Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in all activities.
