Job summary

Natural Resources Wales is seeking an Intelligence Officer based in Cardiff to tackle waste crime across Wales. The role involves gathering, assessing and developing intelligence to support enforcement, with close collaboration with the Crime Analyst and external partners.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of key legislative regimes including PACE, CPIA1996 and its Code of Practice, RIPA 2000, GDPR, and POCA, Government Security Classifications.
• Ability to communicate effectively with regulated business and the public and gaining support by influencing.
• Comfortable and competent in dealing with challenging situations and individuals.

Responsibilities

• Provide Intelligence support to Field Intelligence Officers and Investigators in local teams.
• Receive and assess information provided to us and enter it onto the intelligence system.
• Grade and develop criminal intelligence from that information.
• Provide a point of contact for external and internal partners in the field of criminal intelligence.
• Carry out research to support the Crime Analyst and their work on the Strategic Crime Assessment.
• Produce Intelligence products for Tasking and Co-ordination with the Crime Analyst.
• Develop NRWs ability to deliver an Intelligence-led approach to enforcement.
• Provide specialist advice and guidance to support intelligence-based enforcement.
• Evaluate information provided to NRW from all sources and develop intelligence.
• Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post
